Discover the galapagos’ wildlife Itinerary

Transfer from Baltra airport to hotel with Highland Visit

This visit consists of 3 sites: El Chato, Lava tunnels and Los Gemelos. El Chato Tortoise Reserve is near Santa Rosa, approx 19km from Puerto Ayora. This is one of the only places where you can observe the ancient creatures up close in the wild. They look old, they smell old and they even sound old when they suck in their necks and heads and let out a hiss of air, like an old leather cushion. The reserve is also a great place to see the short eared owls, Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers and paint billed crakes.

After you return to the current century you will be taken to the lava tubes, where you can walk more than 1km underground. They were formed by the solidifying of the outside skin of molten lava flow. When the lava flow ceased, the molten lava inside the flow kept moving, emptying out of the solidified skin thus leaving tunnels.

Lastly a visit to Las Gemelos, the twin craters that are actually sink holes surrounded by Scalesia forest. Vermillion flycatchers and often seen here, as well as short eared owls on occasion. It is a beautiful place to take in the greenery of Galapagos and walk along the small paths around the craters to spot some of the bird life.

At the conclusion of the tour you will be transported back to Puerto Ayora and your hotel.

Depart 7am for a 2 tank dive trip. The site will depend on your experience and our itinerary.
Includes: 2 tanks, all equipment, lunch & snacks, guide, towels and photos of your dive.

Santa Fe departure: 8am – 4.30pm

Ferry to Isabela departing at 7- 7.30am.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 6.15am and transferred to the main passenger to have your name ticked off and board the boat.
The trip is 2 hours in a speed boat.

On arrival to Isabela you will be picked up by a representative from the hotel and given your itinerary briefing.
You will have some free time today and then join the Las Tintoreras Snorkel tour.

This can be taken in Kayak or small motor boat (pre-arranged) The tour takes you first to Las Tintoreras, a small volcanic island where you cruise through shark channel spotting White tip reef sharks resting in the shallow water. You can snorkel in the mouth of the channel here to get a closer look. The second stop is a White Sandy beach covered with lazing sea lions and iguanas, a great photo opportunity. Back on the boat you float past the mangrove forest, a favorite hang out of the blue footed boobies, the masked boobies, pelicans and frigate birds, then on to a protected bay where a colony of Galápagos penguins live where you can snorkel with turtles, White tip reef sharks, rays and many varieties of reef fish. If you are fast with your flippers you may catch a glimpse of the penguins under water too.

Sierra Negra Volcano Tour: 7.30am
AM: Take a guided bus trip and then walk 2 hours up to the second largest crater in the world. Volcan Sierra Negra rises 1490 meters above the sea level and last erupted in October 2005 sending volcanic ash and smoke 20 km in the air. An 8km trail leads around the east side of the volcano to some active fumaroles.
